On November 2, 1981—44 years ago today—this opening sequence made its debut. It was a major overhaul for the show and replaced the original opening sequence that had aired the first 25 years (the 1956-1981 openings had slight changes both with the theme music and the visuals over the years). This opening sequence had two changes with the theme music, the first in 1985 and the second in 1988.
